How to prevent your computer from automatically downloading updates in Windows 10

Windows 10 is the hot news in the tech world as we all know. But still people are not so clear about how the operating systems. So I am starting a series a tutorials helping users to find and setup windows 10 as they want.

First things first, How to prevent automatic download of updates in windows 10 ( of course we want to save data usage !!!) ???

Professional, Enterprise, and Education editions of Windows 10 have access to group policy and registry settings for this, but even Home editions of Windows 10 give you a way to stop updates from automatically downloading.

By Default, the downloads in set to automatic. To customize this option. All we have to do is to go to settings Menu.

Select Network & Internet. And then scroll down to select the Advanced Options below the list of Wifi Networks.

Enable to “Set as metered Connection” option.

If you have an internet connection with a data Limit. Then I would suggest you to set the downloads of updates to metered connection.

After enabling this option, windows will give you a message saying , “Updates are available. We’ll download the updates as soon as you connect to Wi-Fi, or you can download the updates using your data connection (charges may apply.)”

This will avoid your computer from downloading updates without your knowledge.
